Miller’s makeover leads to wrestling facelift

LAS VEGAS (AP) – Randi Miller changed colleges, her coach, her eating habits, her mentality. Sometimes with frequency.
Change the songs on her iPod? Well, she didn’t go quite that far.
All these alterations resulted in a much different athlete and, partly because of it, a shake up of the U.S. Olympic women’s wrestling team only four years after it appeared America might have a medal-contending squad that stayed together for multiple games.
Miller pulled off one of the numerous surprises – at least to those outside the sport – during the U.S. Olympic trials in Las Vegas by defeating 2004 silver medalist Sara McMann at 138 pounds, becoming one of four new team members in Beijing. The others are Clarissa Chun (105 1/2 pounds), Marcie Van Dusen (121) and Ali Bernard (158 1/2).
